Fexco

Director of Client Services, Helen Roberts, is focusing on community engagement in 2023 together with the Fexco Events Team, as well as considering the Group’s placemaking strategy, and involving as many residents as possible with our ideas. Read on to learn more about recent successful events and some forthcoming dates, too.

Community Competitions Bring Residents Together

Our hearts were full after receiving 161 entries over 18 developments for an Easter Egg colouring in competition for under 6’s, or a spring drawing for over 6’s. Our fantastic winners received a £25 Amazon voucher with a certificate and medal, courtesy of Remus and Fexco Property Services. All entrants received a colouring book and pens to say thank you for taking part, and the feedback has been overwhelming, with parents all over the country thanking us.

We also had an enthusiastic response to our recent  wildlife competition for adults. We asked our residents to go out into the open spaces surrounding their developments and send us their best wildlife shots. With entries from mostly the older generation, it was wonderful to see the beautiful spaces we manage being used to their full advantage.

Wildflower Planting with Residents

Together with landscaping contractor Summit Estates, our team arranged a joint community event at Brentford Lock West to tie in with Earth Day. The day saw Isambard Courtyard come to life with a hive of activity from residents, which has not only brought better community engagement, but also improved the ecology and biodiversity of the local area.

Summit were kind enough to donate £500 worth of plants for the day, and all residents were invited to join in with the planting for the development. A variety of plants provided a plethora of ecological and aesthetic improvements across the scheme, and included evergreen shrubs such as Red Robin, as well as flowering perennials such as Peace Lilies, Azaleas, Lupins and Anemones.

The plants were specifically chosen to be introduced to the area by residents so that they would still thrive in the shaded courtyard. Certain plants were chosen to encourage a greater biodiversity of insects and animals to the estate. It was very important to both companies that the event was as environmentally friendly as possible, so there were no single-use plastics on site, all decorations were 100% recyclable, and there was no waste. Residents were provided with tea, coffee and biscuits whilst planting their new wildflowers, courtesy of Crabtree and Summit.

The day provided a brilliant opportunity for residents to meet their neighbours over a cup of tea and enjoy the sunshine! All too often in large estates, many neighbours don’t get the opportunity to meet and get to know each other. It also gave children a chance to learn about the importance of looking after our environment with Summit Estates team teaching how to plant seeds and plants correctly to ensure their survival. The Residents Association were delighted, with the Chair sending a personal thanks shortly after the event.

We are planning more community events in the coming months, and would also love to hear your ideas, too! For more information, or to share your ideas, please contact: businessdevelopment@fexcopropertyservices.co.uk
